If you’re wanting to inspire a lifelong love of music in your little one, Mish Mash might be just what you’re looking for.
Mish Mash isn’t a franchise. It’s been my passion for 19 years and I personally teach all the classes and have written the songs,
This is my take on 6 things that form the foundation of the Mish Mash Music approach:
Classes are all about hands on musical exploration that personally engages your little one
I believe that little ones need to feel important and engaged with in the classes. I keep the classes small, so that every child can feel special and included. We make music together with all sorts of wonderful instruments and I play along on guitar and drums.
Little ones grow a love of music and learn new skills effortlessly with inspiring, fun, and hands-on experiences
I’ve seen this over nearly two decades of teaching and writing the music for the classes, that if a space is inspiring, fun, and full of hands on playing experiences, little ones grow a love of music and learn new skills effortlessly.
A space where little ones are free to be themselves
I wanted to create a space where little ones are free to be themselves, because when they are relaxed they love what they are doing, and learn so much more. So Mish Mash is a place that welcomes your little little ones whether they are outgoing, free range/can’t-sit-still (that’s fine… you’re super welcome!) or little ones who need lots of time to warm up and want to snuggle on your lap.
I create spaces that make everyone welcome, however your child feels that day, so that parents can relax too.
Classes that captivate your little one's attention
My experience is that classes need to be so much fun to explore and join in, that they captivate your little one’s attention. I provide multi-sensory classes that involve playing loads of instruments, moving, dancing, puppets, parachutes and loads more. They are designed to grow with your child, so that they develop as musicians.
Children become part of the band
As well as many years of teaching, I play guitar, flutes and African drums, and the children see themselves as musicians playing along with me, experiencing becoming part of the band, from six months old to starting school!
A rich musical palette of songs
For me, it’s important to give children a rich musical palette – not just ‘wheels on the bus’! So over the last ten years I’ve written loads of songs to teach specific skills and genres, and sourced songs from different cultures to create a strong musical foundation for little ones.
Lasting results
I’ve watched so many little ones grow in confidence both musically and within themselves through having Mish Mash in their early years. And I’ve heard from so many parents whose little ones are now in secondary school and beyond, and for whom music has become central in their lives.
PS. because each term there is a new CD of music, the musical adventures continue during the rest of the week, as you sing and play your way through dinner time, bath time and time in the car. Older siblings, grandparents and carers get to play along too.
